There are several courses about Christianity, like Alpha and Beta but I had some bad experiences with those and did not feel it as the right place for the questions I had. The philosophical point of view and questions in Glad You Asked was more me. So I decided to join the course because I hoped it would help me with some of the questions I was trying to figure out.
As I had hoped, a big plus of the course was that we could discuss questions, like “Why does God allow there to be pain?” and others. These were the questions my course mates and I had in believing (there was a connection on a more intellectual area).
The sessions about Jesus were the most helpful for me—what made him a good man and the sacrifice he made for us. We talked about why some characteristics are more desirable than others and why his offer had such a great impact on our lives and beliefs. I prefer hard facts and observation and have always had my questions about the story of the resurrection. After these evenings, I found more rest in the idea that I would not be able to understand the physiological side of the story and was able to focus more on the other side—the effect of the passion of the Christ and the conviction he had in everything He did.
