I had just moved away from home and was returning to church after a difficult period of my life, which had caused me to lose my belief in God. I went to church one evening and spoke to someone on the welcome desk. I told her I was interested in knowing a bit more about Christianity. She asked me if I would like to join a group she was running called Glad You Asked. I was very gratified to be asked and decided to go. So I went along, enjoyed it and carried on after that.
Being part of Glad You Asked was an interesting and thought-provoking experience. Our group was 4 girls, each with different backgrounds and nationalities. We met once a week at each other’s houses and tackled one bit of the video at a time. Then, over tea, we chatted about our responses to the film and about any questions we had thought of. The DVD was really helpful as a focus for our discussion. It gave us specific questions to answer and things to talk about. It discussed some quite deep things like the problem of evil or the issue of different religions.
I think the part of Glad You Asked that was most beneficial to me was the discussions because we could openly explore questions about God in a non-judgmental way, and at the same time find out what other people thought about our ideas. This gave me a lot of confidence and helped me realise that I didn’t need to have all the answers in order to come back to God. Glad You Asked helped me restart my walk with God.
